Queen Latifah started to Beatbox in 1988 for a rap group named Ladies Fresh. In 1988, DJ Mark gave her demo of Princess of the Posse to Fab Five Freddy, a host at the MTV television show Yo!
Queen Latifah signed soon with Tommy Boy Records and released her 1st album titled All Hail The Queen on 1989. In 1998 she released another album named Order in the Court. In 2004 she released an album with soul and jazz standards named The Dana Owens Album. On 11 July 2007, Queen Latifah sang in the Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl, backed by a 10 piece live orchestra and 3 vocalists.
At the end of 2007, she released another album,
Trav'lin Light that featured some important names like Christian McBride, George Duke, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Stevie Wonder. This album had a nomination at the Grammys for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album section.
In 2008, Queen Latifah said that she already recorded a hip hop album titled All Hail the Queen II. Other rumors of an album were heard in September 2008, about an album titled Persona, which had a feature with Missy Elliott and had as a single the song Cut the Rain.
