Ptolemy
Claudius Ptolemaeus (c. AD 100-170) was a Egyptian astronomer and geographer, who worked in Alexandria.
Short Biography:
The Almagest developed the theory that Earth is the centre of the universe, with the Sun, Moon, and stars revolving around it.
In 1543 Copernicus disproved the Ptolemaic system, Ptolemy's Geography was also a standard source of information until the 16th century.
Why is Ptolemy famous?
Ptolemy was a mathematician, astronomer, geographer and astrologer.
