Priyanka Chopra was born on July 18, 1982, in Jamshedpur, India. She had to change places in her childhood as her father was a doctor in the army. Priyanka did her schooling from the USA and went back to India for her grads.
She was primarily influenced by her father to take part in beauty contests. After sending her pictures, Priyanka was selected to participate in Femina Miss India pageant. She emerged victorious and was awarded the title of Miss India in 2000. She became eligible to participate in the Miss World pageant and bagged that crown as well the same year.
Priyanka acted in her first movie in 2001. It was a Tamil movie, “Thamizhan”. In 2003, she acted in her first Bollywood movie “The Helo: Love Story of A
Spy” which received good responses in the box office. Her next movie was “Andaaz”, opposite Akshay Kumar. That year she won the Best Supporting Actress nomination and the Best Female Debut awards at the Filmfare.
In 2004, her movies, “Plan”, “Asambhav” and “Kismat” failed to gain much public attention. Priyanka’s next movie was “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” which scaled high in the box office. She also appeared in the movie “Aitraaz”. For this she got her second Filmfare award in the category of Best Villain and received a nomination for the Best Supporting Actress once again. Priyanka Chopra was also part of the Temptations 2004 tour.
In 2005, Priyanka acted in a series of flop films which include “Bluffmaster”, “Barsaat”, “Yakeen”, “Blackmail” and “Waqt: The Race Against Time”. Her next movies “Salaam-e-Ishq” and “Big Brother” didn’t bring much success.
2008 saw Priyanka Chopra in two big movies “Krrish” and “Don – The Chase Begins Again”, a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan classic.
