Biography and Career:
Following a difficult childhood, Polly Samson hired in the publishing industry, through which she met the writer Heathcote Williams, with whom she married and had her first son, Charlie. Coming their divorce, she met Pink Floyd's singer and guitarist David Gilmour.
They got married in 1994 while they were in Pink Floyd's Division Bell tour. They have had together 3 children, named Gabriel Gilmour , Joe Gilmour and Romany Gilmour and currently stay in West Sussex. She continues to work together with Gilmour on some of his songs, mainly in a lyrical capacity.
Polly Samson has also written short stories for BBC Radio 4 and has published a collection nam
ed Lying In Bed in 1999 at the Virago and a novel, Out Of The Picture in 2002, at the same editor as well as adding pieces and stories to many other books and publications like Gas and Air in 2003, Girls Night In in 2000, A Day In The Life in 2003.
Polly Samson is known as the co-writer on 6 of The Division Bell's 11 tracks, and, with vocalist Clare Torry, she is one of only 2 female co-writers of any Pink Floyd songs.
She has a guest appearance, on piano and vocals, on Gilmour's 2006 album, which was named On an Island.
