Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955) publication of Le Phenomene humain/The Phenomenon of Man in 1955 was delayed until after his death by the embargo of his superiors.
He envisaged humanity as eventually in charge of its own evolution, and developed the concept of the noosphere, the unconscious union of thought among human beings.
Born in the Puy-de-Deme, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1899, was ordained in 1911, and during World War I was a stretcher bearer, taking his final vows in 1918.
