Philipp Kohlschreiber was born on October 16, 1983 in Augsburg, Germany. He is a professional tennis player.

Biography and career :

He resides in Altstaetten, Switzerland and his coach and the person who takes care of him is Markus Wislsperger. His career started when he was a child and in the year 2001 he turned a professional tennis player.

Since he began his professional career he has won one WTA single tournament and three doubles tournament. On May 6, 2007 he played the final of the tournament in Munich on clay and won it. His opponent was Mikhail Youzhny, from Russia, and the match ended with the score 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In 2005 he won his first doubles title at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on carpet along Lars Burgsmuller. They beat Ashley Fisher and Robert Lindstedt. Next year in Kitzbuhel, Austria his partner was Stefan Koubek and they defeated Oliver Marach and Cyril Suk.

In 2007 at the tournament in Munich, Germany his partner was Mikhail Youzhny and they beat the team of Jan Hájek and Jaroslav Levinsky. His best performance at a Grand Slam tournament as a single player remains reaching the fourth round in 2005 at the Australian Open.

In 2006 and 2007 at Roland Garros he played the second round before being eliminated. In 2004 at the US Open the same performance was obtained, the second round. At Wimbledon in 2006 he played the firs and second round and won them and then in the third round he lost.

In 2007 at the Monte Carlo Masters he was one of the quarter-finalists, but unfortunately lost. Before losing he had an important victory over David Nalbandian.
