Philip Seymour Hoffman was born on July 23, 1967 in Fairport, New York, United States. He is a famous actor with BAFTA, Golden Globe, SAG and Academy Awards won.

Biography and Career:

He was born to Marilyn L. O'Connor and Gordon S. Hoffman, has two sisters and a brother and he is of Irish ancestry. He attended Fairport High School where he had his first encounter with acting. He studied at Theater School at the New York State Summer School for the Arts and later New York University's Tisch School of the Arts from where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

His first role as a professional actor was in "Law & Order" (one episode in 1991). His break point was in 1992 when he played in "Scent of a Woman" and other three less successful movies.

Since then he managed t

o become a successful and very respected actor. Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, Love Liza, Owning Mahowny, Empire Falls are some of the movies in which he played.

He earned much respect after playing in "Capote", 2005. This was not only a huge financial success. The role brought him many high profile awards like Academy Award for Best Actor, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Drama, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture, the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and many more.

His success continued with Mission: Impossible III, The Savages and Charlie Wilson's War. We know that "Synecdoche, New York", Doubt and The Boat That Rocked will also bring him more success.
