Petre Tutea was born on October 6, 1902, in Boteni village, Muscel, Romania. He was a Romanian economist, essayist, philosopher and man of politics.
Biography and Career :
His father was a priest. He studied at the "Neagoe Basarab" high school in Campulung-Muscel and "Gheorghe Baritiu" high school in Cluj.
He followed courses at the University in Cluj. After that, Petre Tutea studied governation issues in Berlin, "Humboldt" University.
He wrote for national publications, such as "Cuvantul" by Nae Ionescu. During the National-Legionar Govern installed after 1940, on September 6, Petre Tutea was the Chief of the Service and then the manager in the Ministry of National Economy.
After the communist invasion in Romania, Petre Tutea was arrested. He had stayed in jail bet
ween 1948- 1953 and between 1956- 1964. He was imprisoned in the jails in Bucharest, Jilava, Ocnele Mari and Aiud. He was released in 1964 having many health problems.
Petre Tutea is known as an economist, essayist, philosopher and man of politics. He wrote many books, such as "Mircea Eliade", "Aristotel and the art", "Between God and My People", "Religions Reflections on the Knowledge". But the greatest of his works was "A Christian Anthropology" having six chapters. He passed away on December 3, 1991.
