In 1995, Peter Sarsgaard obtained a feature role in the film Dead Man Walking. On the same year had an apparition in Another Day in Paradise and one year after in Desert Blue. In 1998, he obtained his first important role in The Man in the Iron Mask where he portrayed Raoul, the son of Athos. In 1999 he was cast in Boys Don' Cry where he interpreted the character of John Letter.
Peter Sarsgaard's first leading role was in 2001, when he was choose to play in The Center of the World. Next year he appeared in supporting roles in movies like Emipre, K- 19: The Widow maker and The Salton Sea.
Peter Sarsgaard won the Online Film Critics Society Award for his role as Charles Lane in the movie Shattered Glass. He also was nominated in 2004 for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He appeared in other movies like The Dying Gaul, Fight plan and Jarhead in 2005, Orphan in 2009 and in some Broadway productions like Burn This, Uncle Vanya and The Seagull.
