Paul Jackson Jr. was born in Los Angeles and comes from a family fully composed of musicians. When he was 15 years old he wanted to become a professional musician. Because of his parents encouragement he majored in Music from the University of Southern California.
He started his acting career when he was 6 years old. His first debut movie was "Cowboy in Africa" with Chuck Connors, Cicely Tyson and many more. He also appeared in many TV shows like Good Times, Julia, and Maybery RFD etc… He has acted on movies like "The Sting", "Cinderella Liberty", "Marcus Nelson Murders",
"Willy Dynamite" and many more.
Though he took acting as his professional he always loved music. When he was nine years old he got his first guitar and he started playing the guitar in full swing from the age of 12 and he decided to concentrate more on music rather on acting. Very soon he started playing the piano. As he continued acting he also performed along with his family band, along with his siblings, mother and dear friend Cornelius Mims. When he was 14 years he was given a Gibson guitar by his parents.
Apart from being a recording artist he is also a L.A. session player. He has played for Michael Jackson's Thriller and Bad. He has also played for Whitney Houston, Thomas Anders, Patti LaBelle, rockers like Chicago, Elton John, Dave Koz, Al Jarreau, David Benoit, Marcus Miller and Kirk. He has also played the guitar in many styles during the American Idol show.
