Paul-Henri Mathieu was born on January 12, 1982 in Strasbourg, France. He is a professional tennis player who resides in Geneva, Switzerland.

Biography and Career :

When he was only three years old when he started playing tennis. In 1999 he became a professional tennis player. Since then he has won four single tournaments and no doubles tournament. The amount of money earned just from tennis is approximately two million dollars.

His first title came in October 2002 at Moscow. The final was played against Sjeng Schalken and ended with the score 4-6 6-2 6-0. The second came immediately after the first, also in October 2002, in Lyon where he beat in the final Gustavo Kuerten.

In 2007 he conquered the other two titles, one in Casablanca and one in Gstaad. His opponents in th e finals were Albert Montanes and Andreas Seppi. In Palermo in 2003 he played the final but Nicolas Massu beat him.

At the US Open his best performance was the third round in 2004. The fourth round at a Grand Slam tournament was reached in 2002 at Roland Garros, in 2006 at the Australian Open and in 2007 at Wimbledon.

For three years he had practiced at Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, between 1997 and 2000, in Bradenton, Florida. In 2002 specialists consider he had his best season. He is a talented player and is still very young, so he has a long career ahead.

At the beginning of the year 2007 he suffered an injury. When he returned on court he played into the fourth round at the Miami Open. One of his victories was over Fernando Gonzalez, but eventually he lost to Andy Murray.
