Patti D'Arbanville was born in New York City and she is the daughter of Jean, an artist and George D'Arbanville a bar tender.

When she was 13 years old she was noticed by Andy Warhol during a gig as a club disc jockey. Her first movie was "Tuesday and Blue Silk" in 1960 in which she has acted as a New York University student. Though she was brought up in New York's Greenwich Village she dropped out from school when she was 14 years old and from then on she started traveling around the world. When she was 16 years old she again was casted in Andy Warhol's movie Flesh in 1968.

In 1960 she started modeling as her c areer in London. When she was in London pursuing her modeling career she met Cat Stevens and started romancing with him from 1968 to 1970.
