Biography and Career :
Patricia Velasquez is an Amerindian of Wayu tribal ancestry, with some Spanish ancestry. She is the fifth of the six children of a couple of Latin-American teachers. Raised by her educator parents in a third world country Patricia Velasquez's life was far from luxurious or glamorous.
Patricia Velasquez attended San Vicente de Paul High School, and after her graduation in 1987, she headed for college to study engineering and accounting.

w pictures to a casting call in Caracas. One of the pictures she sent included Patricia Velasquez. The agency realised the unexploited potential and they offerd exotic Patricia a contract imediatelly.
After a year of college studies, Patricia Velasquez left for Milan in pursuit of a modeling career. In 1998, Patricia Velasquez strutted down catwalks in ready-to-wear fashion shows for designers such as Antonio Berardi, Bella Freud, Corinne Cobson, Claude Montana and Dolce & Gabana, to name a few.
As for print, Patricia Velasquez appeared in ads for Chanel's Allure, Roberto Verino's Verino fragrance, as well as Victoria's Secret. She even donned swimsuits for Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition in 1994 at the age of 23. This lead to a large number of further modeling engagements, which ultimately culminated in her being ranked #16 in Stuff Magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World" poll in 2002.
Patricia Velasquez is one of the highest-paid and most accomplished Hispanic models in history. Now a L'Oréal model, she competed in the 1989 Miss Venezuela pageant representing Peninsula Goajira, placing seventh.
Patricia Velasquez never forgets the struggling days of poverty growing up in Venezuela. After her first few modeling gigs, she bought her family a new home, made sure her 3 brothers received a college education, and still supports causes such as the advancement of Hispanics, fair treatment of indigenous peoples, and the fight against pediatric AIDS. Patricia Velasquez also launched a foundation to help Venezuelans.
