Latsis is the son of Marianna and Gregory Kasidokostas, a water-ski instructor. Kasidokostas runs a large water-ski school and is the mayor of the seaside town Vouliagmeni. His mother, Marianna, is a major philanthropist who donated funds for Greek earthquake relief and the Athens Olympics. He is the grandson of Yiannis "John S." Latsis who was a Greek shipping tycoon notable for his great wealth, influential friends, and charitable activities.
