Paradorn Srichaphan was born on June 14, 1979 in Bangkok, Thailand. He is a professional tennis player.

Biography and Career :

When he was only six years old he started playing tennis and after twelve years, in 1997 he became a professional player. His favorite surface is hard an in his free time he likes car racing and watching Thai kickboxing. His parents are Chanachai and Ubon and while the father is his coach the mother works as a teacher. He also has two brothers, Naratorn and Tanakorn, who played tennis as well but abandoned it for school.

Until now (2007), he has won five ATP single tournaments and one Challenger but no doubles tournaments. The Challenger was won in 2001 at Bangkok after beating in the final John Van Lottum. The other five titles were conquered at th e tournaments in Long Island, Stockholm and Chennai in 2002, Long Island in 2003 and Nottingham in 2004. His opponents in the finals were players like Juan Ignacio Chela, Marcelo Rios, Karol Kucera, James Blake or Thomas Johansson.

In 2002 he played another two finals at Chennai and Washington but lost them. At Chennai he played again into the final in 2004 and 2005 but never won the trophy. In 2005 at Stockholm he tried to win the title but lost the final.

Two years later at the tournament in Indianapolis he was one of the finalists but didn't win the title. In 2002 and 2003 he received the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award and in 2002 the Most Improved Player award.

At the French Open he played the third round in 2003 but was then eliminated. His best performance at a Grand Slam event was reaching the fourth round in 2003 at Wimbledon and US Open and in 2004 at the Australian Open.
