Olivier Rochus was born on January 18, 1981 in Namur, Belgium. He is a professional tennis player.
Biography and Career :
In 1999 he became a professional player and Julien Hoferlin is his coach and the person who goes with him at the tournaments. His brother, Christophe Rochus, is also a tennis player. Until now (2007) he has won two ATP single tournaments, four single Challengers and two ATP doubles tournaments.
In the year 2000 he won his first ATP single title and his first Challenger. The ATP title was won in Palermo, on hard, against Diego Nargiso and the Challenger in Ostend on clay after defeating in the final Johan Van Herck. Next year he won the Challenger in Bolton after facing in the final Dennis Van Scheppingen. The match ended with the score 6-4 7-6.

5 another Challenger was conquered, this time at Mons on carpet against Xavier Malisse from Belgium. 2006 was the year when he won the second ATP title in Munich, on clay, and he fought in the final with Kristof Vliegen.
In September 2006 he won the Challenger in Orleans after beating in the final Michael Llodra from France. In 2002 and 2003 he played the finals of the tournament in Copenhagen and lost every time. Another lost final was at Auckland in 2005.
As a doubles player he won the French Open in 2004 along Xavier Malisse and the tournament in Adelaide in 2005. In 2002 he had a great victory over Marat Safin at Wimbledon.
Even though he is not tall he fights for every point and has proved that height is not so important if you have strategy. In 2007 he was a quarter-finalist at the tournaments in Bastad, Doha and Dubai.
