Nicolas Lapentti was born on August 13, 1976 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He is a tennis player.
Biography and Career :
When he was only six years old he started loving and playing tennis and in 1995 turned professional. Enrique Perez is his coach in the present and takes care of his training. He has won five ATP single tournaments and three ATP doubles tournaments during his professional career.
More than five million dollars entered his pockets just from tennis and on November 22, 1999 he was placed on the sixth position in Top 100. This is the highest position he has ever achieved.
In 2001 at the tournament in Kitzbuhel on clay he beat Albert Costa in the final after a pretty hard match, which ended with the score 1-6 6-4 7-5 7-5. After just one year he conquered the second
title at St Pi¶lten against Fernando Vicente from Spain.
An important victory was the final in 1999 against famous Lleyton Hewitt at the tournament in Lyon. As a junior player he won the Orange Bowl. He is a great player and has helped his country a lot in the Davis Cup, since he began playing at the age of seventeen.
In 2001 at the US Open he played into the third round before being eliminated. One year earlier he reached the fourth round at Roland Garros. At Wimbledon in 2002 he was one of the quarter-finalists and in 1999 he had the best result at a Grand Slam tournament after playing the semi-final at the Australian Open. In 2007 at the tournament in Kitzbuhel he was one of the quarter-finalists.
