Nero (AD 37-68) is said to have murdered his stepfather Claudius' son Britannicus, his own mother, his wives Octavia and Poppaea, and many others.
Short Biography:
After the great fire of Rome in 64, he persecuted the Christians, who were suspected of causing it. Military revolt followed in 68; the Senate condemned Nero to death, and he committed suicide.
Son of Domitius Ahenobarbus and Agrippina, he was adopted by Claudius, and succeeded him as emperor in 54. He was a poet, connoisseur of art, and performed publicly as an actor and singer.
