Nathalie Dechy was born on February 21, 1979 in Abimes, Guadeloupe. She is a tennis player.

Biography and Career :

She became a professional tennis player in 1994 and since then has won one WTA single title, one ITF single title, three WTA doubles titles and one ITF doubles title. On January 5, 2003 the tournament at Gold Coast, Australia was won and so became her first and single title until now (2007). She played on hard court and defeated Marie-Gayanay Mikaelian.

Between 2002 and 2007 she won three double tournaments at Paris, Rome and the US Open. At the Grand Slam her partner was Vera Zvonareva and they beat the team of Dinara Safina and Katarina Srebotnik.

In June 2007 she won the mixed doubles title at the French Open along Andy Ram from Israel. They played agai nst Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjic in the final and the score was 7-5 6-3.

Her performances at the Grand Slam tournaments are good enough. She played into the fourth round at the US Open in 1999 and 2005 and had exactly the same results at Wimbledon in the same years. At the French Open she reached the third round in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006.

A semi-final was played at the Australian open in 2005, but lost to Lindsay Davenport after a hard match. At one moment she was just two points away from the final but in the end was defeated. We wish her good luck and to win many titles and even a Grand Slam title.
