Morgan Freeman (full name Morgan Porterfield Freeman, Jr.) was born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S. He is an Academy Award-, Golden Globe-, and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning American actor, film director, and narrator.
Biography and Career :
He was born to Mayme Edna and Morgan Porterfield Freeman, Sr. as one of four children and he spent his early childhood mostly in Charleston, Mississippi with his grandmother. After he lived in Greenwood, Mississippi, Gary, Indiana, and finally Chicago, Illinois because his family had to move alot.
Morgan first studied at Greenwood High School in Mississippi where also debuted in acting with a school play. After that he also won a statewide drama competition while still in Greenwood High School. While his first movie was "Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow?" Morgan saw recognition as an actor only after playing in "Another World", a soap opera and "The Electric Company" a television show for kids.
