Michael Russell was born on the 1st of May 1978 in Detroit, MI, USA and is a professional tennis player.

Biography and Career :

He started his career when he was a child and in 1998 he turned a professional tennis player.
George Russell is his coach in the present and the person who is next to him at the tournaments.
Even if he hasn’t won any ATP single or doubles titles until now he has won eight Challengers.
The first one came in 2000 at Amarillo after he beat Stefano Pescosolido from Italy in the final.
At the tournament in Granby he defeated Davide Sanguinetti in the final and won his second Challenger.
In November 2005 at Orlando he won the final and his opponent was Todd Widom.
The next year he won another two, at Bronx and Maui, and his opponents were Paul Capdevi lle and Sam Warburg.
2007 came with another three Challenger titles at the tournaments in Noumea, Waikoloa and Joplin and beat players like David Guez, Jamie Baker and Frederic Niemeyer.
In 2001, 2002 and 2007 he played at the Australian Open in the first round and lost after it every time.
The same performance was done in 2000 and 2002 at Wimbledon and in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2006 at the US Open.
The best performance at a Grand Slam event happened in 2001 at Roland Garros when he played into the fourth round before being eliminated.
He has won approximately half million dollars just from tennis and reached the highest position in Top 100, the 66th position, in April 2007..
