Michael English was born April 12, 1962. He began singing at the age of 10 with the Singing Samaritins, then went to the Singing Americans. In 1986 he began singing the lead with the Gaither Vocal Band. In the early 1990s he left to pursue a solo career.
He married at an early age, just out of his teens to a woman named Lisa. They had a daughter named Megan. He later had an affair with Marabeth Jordan from First Call and conceived a child. She later miscarried. The dated for about 6 months and decided it wasn't going to work out. He got addicted to narcotics such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, and others and then started using cocaine and heroin.
He went into detox where he described it as living in hell. He relapsed before he found the Lord again. In 2002 he married Marcie Stambaugh and had
a baby girl named Isabelle in 2004. Since then he has completely turned his life around. He is now back with the Gaither Vocal Band singing lead since Guy Penrod has left. Who better to fill his place than Michael English?
He released his book called "The Prodigal Comes Home" in 2008. He talks about his first days of singing at age 10 to entering the Gaither Vocal Band and meeting his first wife Lisa, the affair, drugs and many more.
