Margaret “Meg” Mary Emily Hyra (Ryan) also known as Meg Ryan is an American actress best described as blue eyed Blondie with a bubbly personality. She was born on November 19th, 1961.

Career:

She is the daughter of Susan Jordan who was an teacher of English language and Harry Hyra who was a teacher of Mathematics in Fairfield, Connecticut.

She completed her Elementary schooling from Saint Pius X Elementary School and in 1979 she completed High School from Bethel High School. She attended University of Connecticut and New York to study journalism. She used to act in commercials for little extra money but her success in showbiz made her drop out from college just an academic term before graduating.

She began her career in acting in the year 1981 with a role in “R ich and Famous”. And then she appeared in CBS comedy “As the world turns” in the year 1982. She did several TV films and minor movie roles in the initial part of her career.

Meg received the breakthrough she deserved in a 1989 romantic and funny film “When Harry met Sally” and was nominated for Golden Globe Awards for the same. Her next blockbuster success was in “Sleepless in Seattle” in 1993 opposite Tom Hanks.

From the year 1994 there was no looking back for Meg. “When a man loves a women” in 1994 was one of her most acclaimed roles where she played a alcoholic counselor in high school, receiving her Screen Actor’s Guild Award Nomination for the first time. In 1994, another successful film was “I.Q.”. She was also considered in the “50 most beautiful women” of 1994. In 1995 came “French Kiss” that completed her American Sweetheart persona and was a huge commercial success.

Meg’s list of successful films include “City of Angels” and “You’ve got mail” (1997), “Hanging Up”(2000), “Kate and Leopold” and “Variety”(2001), and “Against the Ropes” (2004). Then she stopped appearing in films for about four years. In 2007 she was however back with a bang in “In the land of Women”, “The Deal” (2008), “My mom’s new boyfriend” (2008) and “Serious Moonlight”(2009).

Meg married David Quaid in 1991 and had a son from that marriage named Jack Henry in 1992. The couple got divorced after 10 years of marriage on July 16, 2001 on account of David’s infidelity. She also dated Russell Crowe.
