Meg Foster was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, US. She attended acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York with Sanford Meisner. She has worked in theatres and her stage performances include includes 'King Lear', 'Barabbas', 'Three Sisters' and 'Extremities'.
Her role as Detective Christine Cagney in 'Cagney and Lacey' was a hit television series. She acted in this series for the first six episodes of the first session. Later, she was replaced by Sharor Gless because CBS was not happy with Foster's performance.
She appeared as guest star from 1970s till 1980s in numerous TV shows including two episodes of Hawaii Five-0 (1973 & 1976), The Six Million
Dollar Man season two episode 'Straight on till Morning' (1974) & the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season four episode 'The Muse' (1996).
Few of her popular TV shows includes Bonanza, The Twilight Zone, Murder She Wrote, Miami Vice, The Cosby Show, Quantum Leap, ER and Xena: Warrior Princess.
She is famous as villainous Evil-Lyn in the big screen version of Masters of the Universe and the Greek goddess Hera in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
Since 1990, she has mostly been seen in stage productions like 'King Lear' and Barabbas'.
She was nominated the 3rd Genie Awards as the 'Best Performance by a Foreign Actress' for role in film 'Ticket to Heaven'. She has also been nominated the 4th Meanie Awards as the 'Most Mannish Features by a Women in a Roddy Piper Film' for role in film 'They Live'.
