Biography and Career:
He now (2007) resides in Bradenton, Florida
, USA. His father, Nikolai Mirnyi, is his coach and at the age of six he started playing tennis. In his free time he plays guitar and listens to national Russian folk songs. Nikolai and Tatiana are his parents and Peter and Timothy are his two brothers.
In July 2004 he married Xenia and the couple has two daughters, Melanie and Petra. He has won one ATP single tournament and thirty-two ATP doubles tournaments, and among th
at four doubles Grand Slam titles.
In 2001 he won the tournament in Stuttgart after beating in the final Tommy Haas
with the score 6-2, 6-2, 6-2. At the French Open in 1999 and 2006 he played into the second round and at the Australian Open in 2000 and 2006 into the third. In 2003, 2005 and 2006 he reached the fourth round at Wimbledon.
His best performance at a Grand Slam event remains the quarter-final he played in 2002 at the US Open. As a doubles player he won two titles at the US Open, one in 2000 along Lleyton Hewitt
and one in 2002 along Mahesh Bhupathi, and two titles at the French Open, one in 2005 and one in 2006 both along Jonas Bjorkman
He is a very good doubles player and his results speak themselves. Jonas Bjorkman and Mahesh Bhupathi are two players he had often made team in the doubles tournaments. A very important victory in his career was the game played and won against James Blake
at Wimbledon in 2006.
