His father, John Lawrence served in military for many years. His mother was Chlora Lawrence. His parents divorced in 1971 when Martin was still a little boy.
His parents divorce had a negative influence for Martin Lawrence but soon he begun to see humor in any sad event. He discovered that he has an amazing talent in making people laugh.
Martin Lawrence started his career as a comedian in some small clubs in Los Angeles but soon he was the master of his own television show, "Friday Night Live". His extraordinary talent was obvious so in 1995 he received his first role in a big screen movie.
It was in fact the role of his career. He had the leading role alongside with Will Smith in the huge box office success, "Bad Boys". After this role, Martin became one of the best paid actors from Hollywood.
