Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) was a German philosopher.
Short Biography:
In Being and Time (1927), he used the methods of Husserl's phenomenology to explore the structures of human existence. His later writings meditated on the fate of a world dominated by science and technology.
He believed that Western philosophy had "forgotten" the fundamental question of the "meaning of Being". Although one of his major concerns was the angst of human existence, he denied that he vas an existentialist. His support for Nazism, and his unwillingness or his inability to defend his position, damaged his reputation.
