Marius Urzica (full name Marius Daniel Urzica) was born on September 30, 1975 in Toplita, Harghita, Romania. He is a famous Romanian gymnast and Olympics medal record men.

Biography and Career :

His first gymnastics coach was Ferenz Iosif, at the Sports Center of Gheorgheni, where he was brought by his parents.

His passion for the pommel horse developed accidentally, because his coach would punish him to work alone at the horse whenever he was not obedient, and this thing happened often.

In 1994 Marius Urzica won the title of national champion at the pommel horse and world champion in Brisbane. At the 1996 olympics in Atlanta he placed on the second place after a minor mistake. After 1996 he passed some difficult moments after he suffered a serious injury at the Cup of A merica 1998, while performing at the rings, speciality that ended his coaches carreer.

Encouraged by his wife Georgeta, he participates in the 2000 Sidney summer olympics and succedes to win the firs gold medal for the male gymastics team scorring a perfect 10. The titles from 2000 and 2001 surprized nobody. His final contest was at the 2005 Melbourne World Championship.

Marius Uzica is curently coaching the young gymnasts at the Dinamo sports club in Bucharest, the club where he was legitimated as a proffesional athlete most of his impresive career.
