Marius Niculae (full name Marius Constantin Niculae) was born on May 16, 1981 in Bucharest, Romania. He and is famous Romanian football player.

Biography and Career :

Marius Niculae started his professional sport life as a rugby player but soon quitted and signed a professional football player contract with Dinamo Bucharest in 1996.

He played only for Dinamo in Liga 1(first Romanian league) in 100 games and scored 43 times. His debut game was on the 22nd of November 1996 against Farul Constanta and his team won with 5-2. His last 2 seasons for Dinamo were the best, he succeeded to win the champion title in 2000 and second place in 2001 and 2 Romanian Cups in 2000 and 2001.

The season 2001-2002 was very good for him and Sporting Lisbon paid for him 1.200.000 euro. He sign ed a contract for 4 years.

His coach there was Ladislau Boloni ex Steaua Bucharest’s football player whom won in 1986 Champion’s Cup.

They succeeded to win the championship in Portugal in 2002 and had a good way in European Cups.

In the Portugal first league Super Liga Niculae played in 59 games and scored 14 goals.

Unfortunately Niculae had some periods of injuries and this fact stopped his climbing.

The period at Sporting was although the best. Adrian Copilul Minune - a famous manele singer - composed him a manele song talking about his hard period of injuries and his talent.

In 2005 Marius Niculae finished his contract with Sporting and signed with Standard Liege for a year. He left after one season and had some offers from Romanian Championship from his ex team Dinamo Bucharest and others but refused them. He wanted to play more time in western Europe before coming back home. Now is without team.

In the European Cups he played 19 games and scored 10 times.
For the Romanian national team debuted on the 2nd of February 2000 in a game against Latvia, he scored 1 time and Romania won with 2-0.

- He owns some business in Bucharest: some stores and beauty salons.
- He played for Romania in 28 games and scored 12 times.
