
Mario Ančić was born on the 30th of March 1984 in Split, Croatia and is a tennis player who resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Biography and Career :
When he was a child he started playing tennis and in 2001 managed to become a professional tennis player.
He is training hard and wants to have great results. The person who takes care of his trainings and is his coach is Fredrik Rosengren.
Until now he has won three ATP single titles, four single Challengers and four ATP doubles titles.
In February and November 2002 he won his first three Challengers at the tournaments in Belgrade, Prague and Milan, all of them on carpet. His opponents in the finals were Nenad Zimonjic, Jerome Golmard and Gregory Carraz.
One year later he won his fourth Challenger at Hamburg, also on carpet, af
ter he defeated in the final Rafael Nadal.
In June 2005 came his first ATP title in Hertogenbosch. His opponent in the final was Michael Llodra.
Next year he won again the tournament in Hertogenbosch, this time against Jan Hernych. This tournament is played on grass.
His final title until now was conquered in 2006 at the tournament in St. Petersburg. Thomas Johansson was the other finalist.
In 2004 he lost the final of the tournament in Milan to Antony Dupuis.
2005 was the year when he played two single finals, at Tokyo and Scottsdale, and lost them both.
In the year 2006 three other finals were played, at Aukland, Marseille Open and Beijing, but unfortunately he didn’t win the trophy.
Between 2003 and 2006 he won four doubles titles at Indianapolis, Munich, Beijing and Mumbai.
His best performance at a Grand Slam tournament is a semi-final played at Wimbledon in 2004.
He has also played into the quarter-finals in 2006 at Roland Garros, into the second round at US Open in 2005 and into the fourth round at the Australian Open in 2003 and 2007.
