
Mariano Zabaleta was born on the 28th of February 1978 in Tandil, Argentina. He is a tennis player.
Biography and Career :
He became a professional tennis player in 1996 at the age of eighteen after he had started his career when he was only seven years old.
Mariano Hood is now his coach. He goes with Mariano at all the tournaments and takes care of the trainings.
When he is in his spare time he goes fishing and like playing soccer.
His parents are Carlos and Nidia and the father is an engineer. The family also has one daughter, Rosario and two sons, Ramiro and Martin.
Until now he has won three ATP single titles, three ITF single titles and none doubles tournaments.
In April 1996 he won the first ITF tournament at Birmingham and his opponent in the final was Bill Behrens
.
The other two were conquered at La Serena and Bermuda both in 2007 and he beat in the finals Juan Pablo Brzezicki and Frank Dancevic.
The ATP titles were won at Bogotiˇ in 1998 and at Båstad in 2003 and 2004. He defeated in the finals players like Ramon Delgado, Nicolas Lapentti and Gaston Gaudio.
All the six tournaments won were played on clay.
In 1999 he managed to reach the final of the tournament Hamburg Masters, but lost to Marcelo Rios.
After three year another two finals were lost, one in St Pi¶lten again to Marcelo Rios and one in Amsterdam to Younes El Aynaoui.
In 2004 at the tournament in Acapulco he was one of the finalists but Agustin Calleri won the trophy.
The last final played and lost was at the tournament in Houston to Ivo Karlovii¦.
His best result at the Grand Slam events was at the US Open in 2001 when he reached the quarter-finals.
Between 2000 and 2003 he played into the first round at Wimbledon and between 2002 and 2003 into the fourth round at Roland Garros.
In 2000 at the Australian Open he played into the third round before being eliminated.
