Biography and Career :
Her father is architect Meinhard von Gerkan, so her life was a comfortable one, regarding the financial part.
Her first contact with the fashion industry was made with the help of her hobby of making leather pieces. While working at Pyrate Style campaign she was noticed and asked to appear in a catalogue. She moved to the United States where she started her career.
Magazines like Vogue, ELLE, Glamour, Self and Shape had her in their pages and she became soon a well known model. She had modeled for Moschino, Ferragamo, Gianfranco Ferr and many others. Of course she couldn't have missed the Victoria's Secret shows and the advertisements for L'Oreal and Chanel. In
1995 and 1996 she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
During the years she opened a boutique, Shamballa in Soho, New York and she has a jewelry line and of course her own web site. As an actress she was seen in "A Nero Wolfe Mystery" and "Shallow Hal".
She has a relationship with David Blaine, who is an illusionist and stunt performer.
