Ludovico Ariosto
Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533) was an Italian poet, born in Reggio.
Short Biography:
He wrote Latin poems and comedies on Classical lines, including the epic poem "Orlando Furioso" in 1516.
Ariosto joined the household of Cardinal Ippolito d'Este in 1503, and was frequently engaged in embassies and diplomacy for the Duke of Ferrara.
In 1521 he became governor of a province in the Apennines, and after three years retired to Ferrara, where he died.
