Lucian P. Petrescu - prose writer. Born on April 2nd 1956 in Caransebes, he is the son of Petre Petrescu, a physician, and of Felicia Petrescu. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara in 1982.
He began his literary activity at “Pavel Dan” literary circle at the Students’ House in Timisoara. He was a member of the literary circles of “Orizont” literary review and of the Writers’ Association of Timisoara.
He made his debut in print with poems in “Orizont” literary review (1974). His first publication in book form was a selection of short stories published in the anthology Taste of the Orchard / Gustul livezii (Facla, 1985). He contributed short fiction and articles to the following literary reviews: “Orizont”, “Amfiteatru”, “Tr
ibuna”, “Transilvania”, “Vatra”, “Opinia studenteasca”, “Forum studentesc”, and “Familia”.
Later, he published the following books: The Anonymous Lover / Anonimul indragostit (short stories. Cartea Romaneasca. 1990); Looking for Adam / Cautindu-1 pe Adam (short stories, Marineasa. 1996); Chaos / Haos, vol. I (novel, Hestia, 1997). As a physician, he also published three monographs in the field of cardiology. He received the following awards: first prize for prose at the National Festival of Students’ Art and Creation (Suceava, 1981); the award of “Orizont” literary review (1982); the award of “Tribuna” literary review at “Liviu Rebreanu” Festival (Bistrita, 1985).
He travelled for medical specialization stages to France and Germany, and he taught post-graduate courses as a visiting professor in Argentina. At present, the author is a phyisician specialized in heart diseases and a lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara. He is a member of the Writers’ Union in Romania.
