Louise Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun Louise Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun (1755-1842) became painter to Queen Marie Antoinette in the 1780s (many royal portraits survive).

Short Biography:

At the outbreak of the Revolution in 1789 she left France and travelled in Europe, staying in Saint Petersburg, Russia, 1795-1802. She resettied in Paris in 1809.

She published her Souvenirs 1835-1837, written in the form of letters.
