Louie Cordero is a painter, sculptor, and musician who has spent his life working in Manila, Philippines.
His work is, as ST put it, "an incredibly unique amalgam of his disparate graphic influences, filtered through a distinctly non-American eye" - meaning it looks shit hot.
Louie Cordero is a multi-awarded painter, cartoonist, sculptor and musician. He is also the creator of underground comics Nardong Tae, a self-published comic book that has already achieved cult-classic status in the Philippines and Japan. He is a graduate of CFA (College of Fine Arts) in University of the Philippines and has been one of the recipients of the Ateneo Art Award in 2004.
He was a resident artist of Big Sky Mindís residency program from 2002 to 2004 and of the Vermont Studio C
enter in 2003, and has shown his paintings and drawings in Studio 3 in Japan, 111 Minna Art Gallery in San Francisco and Riviera gallery in New York. He is among the recipients of the 2007 CCP 13 Artists Award.

Why do we like Louie Cordero?
His most recent piece is a roughly six-foot sculpture of on zombie head. Super-stylized and beautifully painted, it's the perfect undead acid-trip, a 3D cartoon out of a sixties brain-eater pulp comic that you can't stop looking at , can't stop wanting it ,can't stop loving it. And then when you're done looking at his zombie bust, head over to this page from the Jonathan Levine Gallery to see more of his work. His paintings are fantastic as well....
