Lorenzo Ghiberti (1378-1455) was an Italian sculptor and goldsmith.
Short Biography:
In 1401 he won the commission for a pair of gilded bronze doors for Florence's baptistry.
He produced a second pair (1425-1452), the Gates of Paradise, one of the masterpieces of the Early Italian Renaissance. They show sophisticated composition and use of perspective.
