Lola Novakovic was born in Belgrade, in a city family that didn't have any differences with the most of the families of that time in Belgrade. Her first performance was as a young girl in front of an audience, during The New Year's Eve in the Army Hall in Smederevo.

Biography and Career:
Since 1953 until her first record release in 1960, in Leipzig, Deutschland, Lola was a regular visitor in the music society "Branko Krsmanovic", sometimes she used to sing there, and her musical talent was spotted very quickly.
It is interesting that Lola Novakovic made her first record abroad in Leipzig. The Record was called "Alice in Wonderland", and was recorded with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio Belgrade. Later that recor
d was licensed and rereleased by "Jugoton" in Zagreb, with which she cooperated on the first 4 records. Later on all of her releases were done by "PGP-RTS", in Belgrade.
During her long cariere Lola sang in english, italian, russian and german language, besides singing in her mother-tongue serbian.
At the begining of 60s her cariere went sky high. Along with the amazing popularity went a lot of awards straight into her arms. Those awards were won at the most popular festivals of those days, and also awards based on votes given by the listeners and magazines, given to the best and most popular artists.
Lola also got numerous international awards for her singing, among which the most cherieshed are her participation at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962, and her 1st place and triumph in 1964, at the festival "Roma Canta" in Rome, which Lola considers as the most beloved victory ever for her.
What was and remained even more importnat than the awards is the respect and admiration Lola Novakovic had and still has until nowdays. Some of her interpretations are considered to be unmached until today. Many of us, for whom her singing is well known, say that a long time must pass untill a new artist appears, who will be able to be compared to the unmached talent of Lola.
