
Lois Chiles (birth name Lois Cleveland Chiles) was born on April 15, 1947 in Houston, Texas, USA. She was at first a fashion model and after became a famous actress for her role in the 1979 - James Bond film, "Moonraker".
Biography and Career :
She attended University of Texas, Austin and graduated in 1969. There she received the highest education and she was also a student at the famous Finch College. While attending classes at Finch Collage she was discovered by a Glamour magazine editor and this is how she began a career in fashion as a model. Lois Chiles signed a contract with Wilhelmina Models and became one of the supermodels of the 70s.
In 1972 she debuted in a movie called 'Together For Days' and this was the beginning of a successful career as an actress. She also
played in movies like 'The Way We Were', 'The Great Gatsby', 'Death on the Nile', 'Moonraker', 'Wish Upon a Star', 'Speed 2: Cruise Control', 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery', 'Dallas', 'Murder, She Wrote' and many others.
In 2005 she got married to Richard Gilder, a Wall Street stockbroker and philanthropist.

- She was the original choice for Agent Triple X (Anya Amasova) in "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977), but as a moment of fate, got her chance as the 007 girl in "Moonraker" (1979) after Lewis Gilbert sat next to her on an airline flight.
- Before the actress career, she was one of the very top models of the 1970s.
- In 1982, she starred on the popular drama "Dallas" for one year, alongside Ken Kercheval. 10 years later, they played husband and wife on an episode of "In The Heat Of The Night".
- She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001, not long after the death of her father M. Clay Chiles (brother of oil tycoon Eddie Chiles).
- She is active in raising money for the research and prevention of Hodgkin's disease, particularly because her brother's life was taken by same disease.
- Her last name is pronounced like "files" with a "ch".
