Lobengula (1833-1894) was King of Matabeleland (now part of Zimbabwe) 1870-1993.Short Biography:
After accepting British protection from internal and external threats to his leadership in 1888, he came under increasing pressure from British mining interests to allow exploitation of goldfields near Bulawayo, and was overthrown in 1893 by a military expedition organized by Cecil (Rhodes' South African Company.
Why is Lobengula famous?
Lobengula was the last king of the Ndebele people.
