Lily Cole was born on May 19, 1988, in Torquay, England. She was an A-grade student throughout her education years. She was spotted by a model scout when she was 14 and was signed up by Storm Models, a London based modeling agency.

Her first big modeling stint was for the Vogue Italy in 2003. She was photographed by Steven Meisel. After this successful gig, Vogue also featured her in editions like Citizen K, V, Numero and on more international issues.
She also walked the ramp for big fashion labels like Louis Vuitton, CKNY and Jean Paul Gaultier. She was also seen in ad for Anna Sui Cosmetics, Moschino fragrance.

In 2004, she won the Model of the Year award at the British Fashion Award and was selected again in 2007. She has also become the main model for Accessorize and also a mode l for Rimmel. She also became the youngest model for Marks and Spencer's line of clothing.

In the meantime, she opted for acting and received fair results. She was featured in music videos by artists like Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Primal Screamers. She also grabbed the lead role in Marilyn Mansion's movie Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll. The movie is due for release in 2009. Other movies she acted in include St. Trinian's and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

She appeared in Playboy in 2008. She is a student of History of Art from Cambridge University.
