Lil' KimLil' Kim (real name Kimberly Denise Jones) was born on July 11, 1975 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. She is an American multi-platinum rapper who won a Grammy Award for her role in "Lady Marmalade" in 2002. She is also a songwriter, actress and model.

Biography and Career :

After her parents separated when she was just ten years old she lived with her father. Her life changed when she met Christopher Wallace a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G.

In 1994 Wallace formed a group called Junior M.A.F.I.A. and Lil' Kim became one of the members. After one year with Junior M.A.F.I.A. she started her solo career and produced her first album called "Hardcore". The album was sold in 100,000 copies in the first week, whi ch broke the record as the highest debut for a female rapper at the time. She was nominated for a Grammy Award and the album went platinum.

In 1997 Notorius B.I.G., her mentor and secret lover was shot and Kim fell into a depression and left from the music world for a while. She returned in 1999 and created her own label "Queen Bee Entertainment" and in the next year appeared her second album "The Notorius K.I.M.".

In the first week were sold 798,000 copies but the success of its singles wasn't very great. In 2001 Lil' Kim came in the light spots after she made a feature with Christina Aguilera, Pink and Mya called "Lady Marmelade" which became the soundtrack of "Moulin Rouge" and won a Grammy Award.

Her third album appeared in 2003 and it was named "La Bella Mafia" and got two Grammy Award nominations: Best Female Rap Solo Performance ("Came Back For You") and Best Rap Collaboration ("Magic Stick").

In 2005 Kim was found guilty of conspiracy and perjury for lying to a grand jury about her friends' involvement in a 2001 shooting outside the Hot 97 studios in Manhattan — involving the entourage of rap duo Capone-N-Noreaga and her reported fellow Brooklynite rival Foxy Brown. In prison she wrote over 200 songs and after conviction she realized her fourth album: "The naked Truth".
