LeToya (full name LeToya Nicole Luckett) was born on March 11, 1981 in Houston, Texas, United States. She is a founding member of the R&B female group, Destiny's Child with whom she won two Grammy Awards and after several commercially successful releases with the group, she was forced to leave.
Biography and Career :
She was born in a musical family because her father was a singer and she also started singing from an early age. She was just a little girl when she started singing in Brentwood Baptist Church where she took vocal lessons and she decided to become an opera singer. She sang in the school's choir and also she played in some plays during her elementary school.
In school she met Beyonce K
nowles and after a little conflict with her they became very good friends and later she was co-opted in Beyonce's band Destiny's Child. She had a lot of success with Destiny's Child and they won a lot of prizes but after their second album which was sold in millions of copies appeared some problems and LeToya and La Tavia, another member of the band had to leave the band.
After a lawsuit against Mathew Knowles, the manager of the group and Beyonce's father LaToya and LaTavia founded a new group called Anjel.
In 2003 she started a business with a clothing boutique in the Uptown Park shopping center in Houston, Texas called Lady L Boutique. The Anjel project didn't have success and she decided to have a solo career so she signed with Noontime, an Atlanta-based management/production company. Her debut album appeared in 2006 and went platinum.
