Leopoldo Galtieri (1926-2003) was an Argentinian general.
Short Biography:
Leading member of the right-wing military junta that ordered the seizure in 1982 of the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), a UK colony in the South-West Atlantic claimed by Argentina.
He and his fellow junta members were tried for abuse of human rights and court-martialled for their conduct of the war; he was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 1986.
