
Leona Naess (birth name Leona Kristina Naess) was born on April 31, 1974 in New York, New York, USA. She is a British singer-songwriter.
Biography and Career :
She is the daughter of the Norwegian shipping magnate Arne Naess Jr. and the Swedish designer Filippa Kumlin D'Orey. Her parents divorced when she was just nine years old and her father married Diana Ross after a time. She had a very luxury childhood but she didn't get her parents' attention too much.
She loved music from a young age and she attended the prestigious Purcell School of Music before heading to New York City to study anthropology at NYU. She started performing her guitar in clubs, bars and coffeehouses and soon became popular.
A lot of records labels tried to have her signature but she signed with pr
oducer Scott Litt's record label, Outpost. She signed at 22 years old but she started to work at her debut album at the age of 24.
In 2000 the debut album "Comatised" appeared and the first single on this album, "Charm Attack" appeared on the soundtrack on the movie "Whatever It Takes ". Her second album "I Tried to Rock You But You Only Roll" was, produced in 2001 by Swedish producer Martin Terefe.
After two years she signed with Geffen Records and they produced her third album "Leona Naess". Naess has toured with Eagle-Eye Cherry, David Gray, The Barenaked Ladies, Travis, Ryan Adams, Emm Gryner, Hem, Josh Rouse, Ben Lee, Badly Drawn Boy and Ray Lamontagne.
