Lenny Kravitz (Full name Leonard Albert Kravitz) was born on May 26, 1964 in New York City,
New York, United States. He is an American singer, songwriter, record producer.
Biography and Career :
He is the son of an interracial couple - father Sy Kravitz, a TV news producer, and mother Roxie Roker, actress who starred on the hit television comedy series "The Jeffersons". He started singing when he was just a kid and his parents encouraged him to have a career in music.
After he moved to
Los Angeles because of his mother had role in "The Jeffersons", he became a member of California Boys Choir and soon after this he attended Beverly Hill
s High School, the same school as
Angelina Jolie, Michael Klesic,
Nicolas Cage, David Schwimmer, Jonathan Silverman, Gina Gershon, Rhonda Fleming, Jackie Cooper, Rob Reiner, Antonio Sabato Jr., Pauly Shore, Elizabeth Daily, Corbin Bernsen, Michael Tolkin, Betty White, Crispin Glover and Albert Brooks.
He took himself a new name, Romeo Blue, and tried to sign a contract with a records label but he was refused many times because his music wasn't black enough. In 1985 his parents divorced and this fact affected him very much but he didn't renounce. In 1987 he married Lisa Bonet and in the same year he renounced at his nickname and re-became Lenny Kravitz after he signed with Virgin Records.
His debut album was released in 1989 but wasn't appreciated by the critics. The public loved it. In 1991 Lenny produced Madonna's video "Justify my love" they were involved in a relationship and Lisa ask for the divorce. In the same year appeared his second album "Mama said".
After two years he released another album "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and won MTV Video Award for Best Male Video. After his mother died in 1995 by cancer he retreated in Bahamas with his daughter and grandmother. His fifth album was named simply "5" and after this Lenny started an European Tour special for his fans in Europe and all was very good.
