Lawrence Tierney , an American actor who mostly played the roles of criminals and mobsters was born on the March 15, 1919 .
Biography and Career:
Tierney was born in the picturesque city of Brooklyn in New York. He attended Boys High School in the locality and he was a good athlete there. He got a scholarship for his athletic excellence to Manhattan College. But he did not finish the course and worked as a laborer for two years in the New York City. He changed his jobs different times. A person who worked as an acting coach advised him to try his luck at the theatres. He got himself involved in the group of Black Friars. He stayed there for some and had done some work. He later joined the group American-Irish Theatre. He won a contract after he was noticed by an RKO talent
hunter. He won the contract in the year 1943.
In the beginning of his career, he was doing the roles in the B category movies. The movies he did this time were the 1945 movie Back to Bataan, the 1943 movie The Ghost Ship, the 1944 movie Youth Runs Wild etc. His acting in the 1945 movie Dillinger gave him success. He played the role of a bank robber in the movie that really existed in the 1930s.
The 1946 movie, In Badman's Territory, he played the role of Jesse James. His role of an ex marine who was accused in charge of murder in the 1946 movie Step By Step had claimed him success.
Tierney died of pneumonia. He breathed his last at a nursing home in Los Angeles. He had three children, one daughter and two sons.
