Lawrence George Durrell (1912-1990) was a British novelist and poet.
Short Biography:
Born in India, he joined the foreign service, and lived mainly in the Est Mediterranean, the setting of his novels, including the Alexandria Quartet: Justine, Balthazar, Mountolive, and Clea 1957-1960; he has also written travel books.
He is the brother of Gerald Durrell.
