Sir Laurens Jan Van der Post (1906-1996) was a South African writer, whose books, many of them autobiographical, are concerned with the duality of human existence.
They include the novels Flamingo Feather (1955), The Seed and the Sower in 1963 (set in Java, Japan, Britain, and Africa) and A Story like the Wind (1972). His travel books include Venture to the Interior in 1952.
