Larry King (birth name Lawrence Harvey Zeiger) was born on November 19, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is an award-winning American writer, journalist and broadcaster.
Biography and Career :
He is the son of Jennie, a garment worker, and Edward Zeiger, a restaurant owner and defense plant worker, both of whom had emigrated from Russia. When he was just nine years old his father died of heart attack and after he graduated from high school he renounced to complete his studies and started to work to support his mother.
His first job was in Miami to a local radio WIOD where first he was hired for cleaning and finally became disk jockey. There he started to take his first interviews and he changed at his m
anager suggestion his name in King.
After some legal and financial troubles in 70's he returned in radio and television and became the color commentator for broadcasts of the Shreveport Steamer of the World Football League on KWKH.
In 1978 moved to Mutual Radio Network where he hosted a talk show which became very popular. In 1987 two major events happened in his life: he suffered a major heart attack and then had quintuple-bypass surgery and signed a contract with CNN and his show "Larry King Live" became one of the most successful TV shows. He is also involved in a lot of charity events and he is one of Rotary Club of Beverly Hills' members.
